SAINT PEPSI – “Baby”
If you see the title for SAINT PEPSI’s newest track it wouldn’t be out of the question to think that the producer Ryan DeRobertis had twisted a Justin Bieber song into one of his signature pieces of spacey dance music. It’s not (though there was a remix of “Boyfriend” that came out on Valentine’s Day). Rather, “Baby” takes a track by K-Pop stars 4Men and makes it into a gauzy and beautiful piece of pop music. Sidestepping any typical chorus or verses, “Baby” constantly shifts and skips along a wide spectrum of sounds from delicate piano to the gratifying breezy synth flourishes that have become a staple for DeRobertis. Listen below and look for it (and the also great “Mr. Wonderful“) on SAINT PEPSI’s album, Gin City, out next week.
Gin City will be released next week via his Bandcamp.
