Watch Strand Of Oaks’ Dramatic Cover Of Asia’s “Heat Of The Moment”
Strand Of Oaks released the intense and gorgeous album HEAL earlier this year, and just yesterday, we heard his sincere cover of the National’s “Pink Rabbits.” But Timothy Showalter doesn’t just cover his contemporaries in scraped-out indie. In the most recent episode of the A.V. Club’s all-covers video series A.V. Undercover, Strand Of Oaks take on Asia’s 1982 cheese-rock anthem “Heat Of The Moment.” To their credit, the band don’t treat the assignment as a joke. Instead, they do everything they can to give a deeply silly song some gravitas, rebuilding it as a florid slow-burn with zero butt-rock riffage. Watch the cover below.
HEAL is out now on Dead Oceans.
