Smashing Pumpkins Live Band Now Includes RATM Drummer, Killers Bassist
Smashing Pumpkins have been releasing increasingly promising singles from their upcoming album Monuments To An Elegy, for which Billy Corgan recruited Tommy Lee to bang the drums. Lee won’t be touring with the Pumpkins, but it looks like Corgan has brought in another rock ‘n’ roll lifer to man the drum kit. Rolling Stone reports that Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk (pictured) will handle drumming duties for the Pumpkins on a handful of upcoming dates. Killers bassist Mark Stoermer will also be in the lineup. Billy Corgan’s quote on the matter: “We’re absolutely thrilled and humbled to have Brad and Mark helping us out with these shows, and if our rehearsals are any indication, they should be one-of-a-kind.” The Pumpkins are scheduled to appear at Lollapaloozas in Chile, Argentina, Brazil next year, and more shows will be announced soon, though it’s unclear whether Wilk and Stoermer will be on board for any of those gigs. Here are the shows they’ll definitely be joining Corgan for:
11/30 Berlin, DE @ Kesselhaus
12/05 London, UK @ Koko’s
12/06 Paris, FR @ Le Trabendo
12/08 New York, NY @ Webster Hall
12/10 Los Angeles, CA @ Jimmy Kimmel Live! (special outdoor performance)
12/14 Los Angeles, CA @ KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas
Monuments To An Elegy is out 12/9.
