Watch The Trailer For Lifetime’s Whitney Houston Biopic
Last month, Lifetime aired an Aaliyah biopic that was so bad it sent Timbaland on an Instagram rampage. Next month, the network will air Whitney, its Whitney Houston biopic, and the movie’s mere existence is a warning sign. Still, this one could turn out differently. It has a star, Yaya Dacosta, who appeared on a season of America’s Next Top Model but who’s also been in some real movies: The Butler, The Kids Are All Right. It has a first-time director, Angela Bassett, who’s appeared in a ton of real movies, and who was the star of one of the best music biopics ever, What’s Love Got To Do With It? It helps, too, that the movie’s Whitney and Clive Davis bear at least a passing similarity to their real-life selves. (Shame about the movie’s Bobby Brown, though.) All in all, it looks like a watchable movie if you’re predisposed to enjoy something like a Lifetime Whitney Houston biopic. Watch the trailer below.
The movie airs on Lifetime 1/17.
