Today, the Virginia-based Turnover announced they will release their sophomore LP, Peripheral Vision, to follow up 2013’s Magnolia. “Cutting My Fingers Off” is the new LP’s first single, a gorgeous piece of nostalgic reckoning that bares both its heart and teeth. “I found the picture that we took when we brought in the New Year/ You wore a cocktail dress, ignored the goosebumps on your neck/ The namesake of your outfit to keep you warm,” sings Austin Getz long before the song’s namesake line surfaces, “Losing you was like cutting my fingers off.” It’s a desperately sad song upheld by optimistic, surging instrumentals.
