Stream Thundercat The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam
Thundercat, aka Stephen Bruner, was a key member of the collective that made Kendrick Lamar’s jazzy hip-hop meditation To Pimp A Butterfly one of the year’s best releases. He was also part of Kamasi Washington’s lauded new jazz record The Epic. But now, Thundercat is finally releasing his own new solo record, a surprise mini-album dubbed The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam. Thundercat has enlisted his own host of collaborators for the release, including Washington, Flying Lotus, Herbie Hancock, and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Last week we named “Them Changes” one of the best songs of the week. On a cursory listen, “Lone Wolf And Cub” sounds like another standout; a jazz lullaby that unspools into a tense freestyle mid-song. The album is out today so you can stream the whole thing below via Spotify.
