2015 will be remembered as the year of peak irony (see the Scientology shirt above), the year of streaming, and hence, the year of the supergroup. This year is also the year that TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Faith No More’s Mike Patton, and rapper Adam “Doseone” Drucker will release their first album as the supergroup dubbed Nevermen. It’s unclear whether the trio drew that title from the comic book series of the same name, but I intend to find out. Adebimpe and Drucker first connected back in 2008 and later sent their recordings to Patton, who contributed his own ideas. (Patton and Drucker worked together in 2006 on a song off Patton’s Peeping Tom, “How You Feeling?”) Their debut song is called “Tough Towns,” and Drucker dedicates it to kids who feel stuck in their hometowns:

“Tough Towns” is dedicated to anyone remotely young, feeling inexplicably inspired in the ‘nowhere’ they are from. May you soon escape with style into elsewhere.

Their self-titled album will feature 10 songs the trio worked on over the years. The 10 songs on the album don’t feature any other artists, just these three, however “fourth Never-man” Keith Tyson designed the album’s artwork. Listen to “Tough Towns” and check out the artwork below.
