CyHi The Prince Disses Kanye West On New Song “Elephant In The Room”
For a few years, CyHi The Prince was lucky enough to be the least talented person on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. He had that verse on “So Appalled” where he said, “If God had a iPod, I’d be on his playlist,” and I once saw an entire SXSW venue clear out the second he stepped onstage. But the inevitable finally happened, and CyHi has been dropped from Def Jam. He’s not happy about it. And on an absolute mess of a new song called “Elephant In The Room,” CyHi goes absolutely nuts on Kanye, explicitly threatening to kidnap him and bitchslap his wife. No joke: The entire second verse is a kidnapping narrative. It’s ridiculous. Listen below, if you like.
Well, CyHi got us to pay attention to him again for a minute, so I guess that’s something.
UPDATE: As Complex points out, CyHi tells Hot New Hip Hop that Kanye gave him the beat and the concept for “Elephant In The Room” and that he played it for Kanye before releasing it. This seems a little suspect, but here’s what CyHi had to say about it:
Personally, I asked for a release from Def Jam, so I did get a release, but it wasn’t due to Kanye West it was to due to Def Jam…I’m still connected to G.O.O.D. Music but it’s almost like a Travi$ Scott situation — he’s not on the same distributor as G.O.O.D. Music but he’s still with G.O.O.D. Music… It was more so Def Jam not knowing what to do with me– it was only so much Kanye could do, ’cause he didn’t really wanna put himself out there, and Def Jam not do what they supposed to do and he gotta keep putting himself out there for me. So I just felt like, I would rather go to a situation that wants me there as far as distribution, then I’ll add Ye and we’ll put it all together and make it a successful release.
CyHi adds that both Kanye and Pusha T, another target of the song, think the song is funny and “creatively dope.” Whatever you say, CyHi.
