David Bowie – “Lazarus” Video
Tomorrow, old god David Bowie releases his stunning, adventurous new album ? (Blackstar), maybe the most extreme and experimental piece of music he’s ever made. And today, he shares his video for “Lazarus,” the album’s sweeping and intense single. The video, which Bowie already previewed, is not quite the heady, apocalyptic vision that his video for the album’s title track was, but it’s still an intense and deeply strange piece of work. It’s mostly built around the image of Bowie, in an old-timey nightgown and a blindfold with buttons sewn over the eyes, levitating in a hospital bed. And much of it depends on the performance of Bowie, who still has a physical language all his own. Even now, a day before his 69th birthday, he’s absolutely captivating. Watch the video below.
