Polly Jean Harvey spent a month last year recording her ninth studio album in public, behind glass, as part of an art installation of sorts. A hurdy-gurdy was involved. Last month we learned that album will be out in April, and today, Harvey has shared a brief preview of the first single, which will debut Thursday during Steve Lamacq’s show on BBC Radio 6. It does not appear to be “Chain Of Keys” or “Ministry Of Social Affairs,” the pair of new songs Harvey debuted in concert last fall. Check it out.
