Once upon a time, Ice Cube and Common did not like each other. Cube perceived some of the lines on Common's canonical 1994 song "I Used To Love H.E.R." as disrespect, and he took a few shots on the 1995 Mack 10 track "Westside Slaughterhouse": "Pussy-whipped bitch with no common sense. Common responded on 1996's "Bitch In Yoo": "Now what the fuck I look like dissing a whole coast / You ain't made shit dope since AmeriKKKa's Most."
Of course, both of them transitioned over to mostly-corny acting careers years ago, and they're both in the forthcoming Barbershop: The Next Cut. In a new Complex interview, the two talk about how the whole beef was overblown. And now they've gotten together on a song called "Real People," which appears on the soundtrack to that Barbershop movie. On the track, the two of them talk about coming together and forgetting old resentments. It's nice! Listen below.
