Watch Tony Nominee Daveed Diggs Rap A Clipping. Song On The Tonight Show
Daveed Diggs has had a weird career. He plays Thomas Jefferson in the widely beloved Broadway musical Hamilton, and he’s currently up for a Tony for that role. But he’s also the frotman of clipping., the dark and squirmy and confrontational Los Angeles noise-rap trio. (Their LP CLPPNG was an Album Of The Week back in 2014.) Last night, Diggs was a guest on The Tonight Show, where he wore an insane stitched-together suit. And when Fallon gushed about his stage-rapping in Hamilton, Diggs told him that his rapping in Hamilton might be fast for Broadway, but it’s not fast for rap. And then, in an absurdly precise blur, he rapped the CLPPNG track “Taking Off” and just murdered it. Watch it below.

Also, the Roots used a clipping. track as Diggs’ entrance music? That’s badass.
