Watch Supergroup Prophets Of Rage Play Their First Show In LA
After teasing it for a few weeks, yesterday, three of the four members of Rage Against The Machine announced their new supergroup. The band is called Prophets Of Rage, and it features Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. In place of Rage frontman Zack De La Rocha, they’ve got Public Enemy’s Chuck D (as well as DJ Lord) and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. Last night, the new band played their first show at the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles, and as you might imagine, it made for a fascinating spectacle.
As Billboard points out, the show was mostly given over to RATM shows, with a few Public Enemy and Cypress Hill tracks thrown in there. Midway through, the band took a break so that the rappers could run through a medley of their hits with DJ Lord. They also debuted one new song, which appears to be titled “Party’s Over.” And throughout the show, Chuck D took pains to point out that De La Rocha was welcome to join in anytime he wanted: “There’s always a seat warm for Zack De La Rocha.”
There is sadly not much video of the show up online, but you can watch one collection of fan-made clips below. Also below, check out the show’s setlist.
