Boston Calling 2017 Lineup
Over the course of four years, Boston Calling has become one of the mainstays of the festival season, putting on a spring and fall event each year with a respectable lineup each time. But for its fifth year, the fest is skimming down to one major event and vastly expanding its scope in every other way. That expansion begins with the Aaron Dessner-curated lineup, which is among the best collections of talent assembled so far this year. Tool, Mumford & Sons, and Chance The Rapper will headline, with other highlights including Bon Iver, the xx, Major Lazer, Weezer, the 1975, Sigur Rós, Solange, Run The Jewels, Tegan And Sara, Sylvan Esso, Mac DeMarco, Wolf Parade, Danny Brown, Flatbush Zombies, Frightened Rabbit, Modern Baseball, Car Seat Headrest, Mistki, Deerhoof, Pup, Whitney, Strand Of Oaks, Hiss Golden Messenger, Moses Sumney, Xylouris White, the Hotelier, Kevin Morby, Lucy Dacus, Tkay Maidza — so, almost everybody on the poster. It’s an impressive coup, marking Boston Calling as a real contender in the festival wars.
Boston Calling is also relocating to the Harvard Athletic Complex and adding a film experience curated by none other than Harvard alum Natalie Portman. A press release also promises “comprehensive food, drink, and visual arts components.” The fest goes down 5/26-28, and tickets are available here.
