In just a few short days, aggressive rock 'n' roll greats Angel Du$t, who were a Stereogum Band To Watch a full decade ago, will release their new album Cold 2 The Touch. I have heard it, and I can tell you with complete confidence that that shit rocks extremely hard. This news should not come as a surprise. If you've been listening to the advance singles, you've already heard more than half of the LP: "The Beat," "The Knife," the title track, "DU$T," "I'm The Outside." You're not done yet.
With the album release looming Angel Du$t have yet another advance single out today. Despite its title, "Pain Is A Must" is probably the least hardcore of these Cold 2 The Touch singles, at least on a musical level. It's a hard-stepping, melodic alt-rock rager about trying to function on your own denying yourself permission to die. The Noah Haycock-directed video shines a black light on a moshpit. It's got everything: Glowing white shirts, ski masks, cowboy hats, people making out onstage, slo-mo guitar solos, the phrase "Angel Du$t money fuck!" Watch it below.
Cold 2 The Touch is out 02/13 on Run For Cover.
