Man/Woman/Chainsaw Announce Debut Album Cannonball: Hear “Nosedive”

London art-punks Man/Woman/Chainsaw started when the band members were teenagers. They emerged post-COVID, after using all that time at home to get really good at their instruments, and they were a Stereogum Band To Watch in 2024. Gilla Band's Daniel Fox produced their Eazy Peazy EP, and they followed it with a couple of singles last year. Back in November, they dropped "Only Girl," and it was one of our favorite songs of the week. Now, they're finally ready to announce their debut album Cannonball.

Man/Woman/Chainsaw recorded Cannonball with two producers, My New Band Believe/Big Joanie collaborators Seth Evans and Margo Broom. "Only Girl" is the LP's opening track, and they've just shared a very cool new song called "Nosedive." This one is a lot less chaotic than some of the band's past material. It's a warm, stately dance-rock jam that sprawls out over five and a half minutes. I really like the way Starwood's violin winds all through it and the way the synths sparkle sadly.

There are three lead singers in Man/Woman/Chainsaw, and keyboard player Emmie-Mae Avery handles lead vocals on "Nosedive." In a press release, she says, "It's is a song about longing for both comfort and freedom simultaneously in a relationship through the metaphor of being an injured bird needing shelter. We turned it into a danceable upbeat track, which made the tone shift throughout the song as though you find a way to pick yourself up and fly away." Below, check out the "Nosedive" video, which the band co-directed with Charlie & Charlie, as well as the Cannonball tracklist and Man/Woman/Chainsaw's upcoming tour dates.
