Billie Eilish has always been vocal about animal rights. The pop star has been a vegan since she was 12, and while promoting her 2024 album Hit Me Hard And Soft she did meatless versions of Hot Ones and Chicken Shop Date. Last week, she said in an interview with Elle that eating meat is "inherently wrong" and that you can't eat meat and also love animals. She's been facing backlash, but she's doubling down.
On her Instagram Story today, Eilish posted graphic slaughterhouse videos, most of which have been marked by Instagram as sensitive content. She wrote, "so stay fucking mad at ME. i really dont give a goddamn fuck," and concluded the videos with the following statement:
go watch a documentary or two and some footage of what is done to the animals u claim to love and what it does to the planet u pretend to love as well. if that footage was hard for u to watch i encourage u to pls take a look at urself. like i am so tired of standing up for/having empathy for living beings being controversial. pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie. mwah
Meanwhile, the premiere for her 3D concert film transpired last night in Los Angeles and she debuted her boyfriend, Nat Wolff, on the red carpet.
