The Linda Lindas Announce New Album Gotta Get Out: Hear “Closer” (Feat. Hayley Williams)

A month ago, former teen phenoms the Linda Lindas made the leap to major-label status, announcing a deal with Warner/Reprise and releasing the new single "Burning Out." That was, of course, a precursor to an album announcement, which has arrived today. The Linda Lindas will release Gotta Get Out at the end of August, and they've lined up one of their many famous friends to join them on the next single.

Last year, Hayley Williams and the Linda Lindas performed at the same benefit concert in Los Angeles, then took the stage together in London. Before that, the Linda Lindas popped up on Paramore's This Is Why reworks album Re: This Is Why. Now Williams has jumped on "Closer," the new Linda Lindas track.

The Linda Lindas have tried out a bunch of different sounds over the years. "California Sun" was knowing Ramones pastiche, whereas "All In My Head" was the kind of alt-rock throwback I associate with Olivia Rodrigo and "Burning Sun" reminded me of Soccer Mommy. For new single "Closer," the band has essentially brought Williams back into the realm of early Paramore. So if you've been waiting to hear her wailing over minor-key distorted guitars again, here's your chance.

The band's Bela Salazar and Lucia de la Garza shared this statement:

"Closer" is about feeling like you’re losing control of time, and watching yourself grow older from afar. Lately, we’ve been realizing how important it is to stay present, especially when our lives feel constantly in motion. It feels perfect that Hayley Williams was down to collaborate on this song with us, because we’ve been fans of her throughout so many of her different eras-- and she’s seen us grow up over the last ten years! We’ll always be honored that we got to write and get emo with the queen of emo herself.
