In 2022, brakence broke through with hypochondriac, a bizarro hyperpop-rap whirlwind of an album. The 24-year-old artist is back today with "ready or noT," his first new music since then. It comes with an eccentric music video by fellow musician quadeca.
"ready or noT" comes the same day as 2hollis' ultra-loud "Warhorse" and a couple days after Jane Remover's super-spiky "Beauty Sleep," so it's safe to say that hyperpop is alive and louder than ever. Here's what quadeca wrote on Instagram about doing the video:
honored to say I directed and edited brakence's return for "ready or noT." Incredibly proud of this video it has been in the works for so long — wrangling puppeteers, story boarding, building sets, etc this was truly a whole new realm for me so I just hope that it lived up to the occasion for everybody who cares about randy's music as much as I do. Shoutout to everyone involved in making this one come together. Randy is my favorite guy to work with ever and not a single soul is ready for the world he has invented with this album. Ok just a quick deviation… i'll be back with life 1 next week :)
