After releasing "Hurt" in July and "Sex" last week, 2hollis has announced his fifth album, Pirouette, arriving this fall. The star followup features cover artwork by legendary Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano, and the third single "Warhorse" is out today.
"There is a delicate, sensitive quality to 2hollis that aligned perfectly with the image I had in mind for the artwork," the Final Fantasy icon said about the collaboration. "He felt very close to the kind of character I have always drawn — as though he had stepped directly out of one of my paintings."
"Rather than having to adapt my style to fit him, I was able to portray him naturally within my own world," he continued. "The piece feels closely connected to the work I have been creating throughout my career."
The 22-year-old sensation first debuted "Warhorse" live at Bonnaroo last year, and it's since become a fan-favorite unreleased track (I wrote about his extensive, exhilarating unreleased catalog for frequent Stereogum contributor Eli Enis' Chasing Sundays blog). "Warhorse" samples DJ Clap's 2012 track "Don't Tell," and there was a scrappy version of it circulating for a while, but this official version is fully realized, refined into chaotic, booming perfection.
