New Live Hold Steady – “Lord I’m Discouraged”

The boys and girls of America are still turning out in droves to see the Hold Steady as they continue touring on the back of last year's Gummy winning LP, but you can't blame the guys for wanting to shake up the setlist and keep things fresh. The folks at MFRwrote in to tell us there's three new tunes making the Steady's set these days, stating their fave to be "Lord I'm Discouraged" ("Magazines" and "Joke About Dyer'Maker" are the other two they're playing). It's a break away from the fist pumping barroom anthems, something more along the lines of "First Night" in its closing time balladry, Craig sounding wistful, maybe shedding a tear in his beer, looking for an uplift of spirits, or maybe just another cup of 'em. This clip comes from the band's performance in Columbus, OH on 10/27.
