Stream Nacho Picasso & Blue Sky Black Death Stoned & Dethroned
The Seattle rapper Nacho Picasso has a dark, slithery dirtbag appeal; he raps about violent horror-movie antics with a blackly comic wink in his voice. Blue Sky Black Death, meanwhile, is a Seattle production duo with a twinkly, astral take on synth-rap; their music is glacial and bottom-heavy and gorgeous. BSBD have produced a bunch of mixtapes for Nacho and they’ve ended up in the Mixtape Of The Week column twice, for 2011’s For The Glory and 2012’s Lord Of The Fly. They bring out the best in each other. And they’ve now teamed up for a new self-released album called Stoned & Dethroned. (It shares a title with an underrated 1994 Jesus & Mary Chain album, but I’m pretty sure that’s a coincidence.) This one isn’t a free mixtape; it’ll run you a reasonable $8. You can, however, stream the whole thing below.
