Watch Chance The Rapper Cover Kanye West’s “Family Business” At Summer Ends Fest
Chance The Rapper and Kanye West both performed at Tempe, Arizona’s Summer Ends festival last night. As Pitchfork points out, Chance took the opportunity to pay homage to the older Chicago rapper — and the birth of his own daughter — by covering Kanye’s “Family Business,” which is possibly the most Chance The Rapper-y Kanye song ever. Chance makes it his own, though, adding some of his own lyrics and letting his band do their thing, and it sounds great. He also makes the same obvious joke that we made, closing out the performance by rapping, “Used to be Chance The Rapper, now I’m Chance The Daddy.” (He’s a dad now, so he’s allowed to make dad jokes.)
