WU LYF Announce First Album In 15 Years: Hear “Love Your Fate”

The churning, mysterious Manchester indie rockers WU LYF built up a fervent cult in the early '10s, but they didn't stick around for long. The band only released one album, 2011's Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, before breaking up in 2012. Last year, the band returned, playing live shows, releasing the singles "A New Life Is Coming" and "Tib St. Tabernacle," and pulling their music from Spotify. Now, a second WU LYF album is on the way.

Fifteen years after the release of Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, WU LYF will drop their sophomore album A Wave That Will Never Break on us this spring. After self-producing their first LP, WU LYF recorded their second with producer Sonic Boom, the legendary ex-Spacemen 3 member and Panda Bear/MGMT/Beach House collaborator. Rather than engaging the services of a record label or dealing with streaming services, WU LYF will release the new one directly to their L Y F membership program via their website, where they'll also have journals, fan forums, exclusive merch, and early access to tickets. Here's what they say about it in a press release:

With the help of you all we have written, recorded, and produced the long awaited second WU LYF record.

The vision for the L Y F has been with us since the start; way back in 2010 when we first sold the white on white bandana with the "Heavy Pop" / "Concrete Gold" 12" — We foresaw a community of like-minds that would gather around the flame of our music, and through whose direct support we could operate with freedom, autonomy & the truth; to play our own (infinite) game — alas, we were young, foolish, and didn’t have the means or the infrastructure for the impulse to reach its full potential.

Now 15 years later here we are — the initial version of the L Y F membership platform has been an experimental proof of concept — we have learnt a lot from it over the past year and behind the scenes we have been building Version 2.0

Along with the album announcement, WU LYF have shared their new single "Love Your Fate," a surging, romantic anthem about being alive at what feels like the end of everything: "As all of our futures go up in flames/ I trust in my heart with a love of my fate/ God only knows what will happen to us/ It is what it is, it's not what it was." They've still got the same sincere, ambitious drive that they had a decade and a half ago.

Along with the new album, WU LYF will tour Europe and North America in the months ahead. Below, check out "Love Your Fate," the tracklist for A Wave That Will Never Break, and their tour dates.
