In 2026, the massively influential Glaswegian producer Rustie is quietly emerging from years of silence, posting a series of mysterious new tracks on YouTube without announcing a record or making the new stuff available on streaming services. Thus far this year, Rustie has shared "Athanasia," "Amentet," "Trizkel Sun," and "Arora." Over the weekend, he dropped another one.
Rustie's new track "Psion" appears to be named after a class of Dungeons & Dragons characters. (Google tells me that they're like wizards, except they do magic with the power of their minds, not by chanting spells or whatever. I'm sure there's a more nuanced explanation of what a "psion" is, but that's what I got for you.") The track is two minutes long, and it turns blaring, disorienting digital static into an exciting dance-anthem context. It's experimental rave, basically. Listen below.
