Harmony Announces New Album Lifetime: Hear “I’m Still Learning How To Leave You”

Harmony Tividad, who records as just Harmony, used to be one half of the great LA duo Girlpool, and she reunited with her former bandmate Avery Tucker at his record-release show last year. After Girlpool's 2022 breakup, Harmony took a part pivot into hedonistic electro-pop on her 2023 solo EP Dystopia Girl and on her 2024 album Gossip. Since then, she's moved back in the direction of sensitive indie-pop on singles like "Where Strangers Go," "Anything," and "Apple Pie." Those three songs will appear on Lifetime, the new solo album that Harmony announced today.

Harmony recorded Lifetime with FKA twigs/Blondshell collaborator Yves Rothman on board as executive producer. Today, she shares the new single "I'm Still Learning How To Leave You," which Rothman produced at LA's Sunset Sound studio. It's a big, triumphant song about moving past a breakup, with strings and acoustic guitars swirling around Harmony's voice. In a press release, Harmony says that the song is "about the continued strength to surrender responsibility over a person you no longer have the strength to take care of."

I think it's cool that she's kept the pop-star snarl of her recent solo work even as the music moves back toward more traditionally sincere fare. That's on full display in director Hannah De Vries' video for "I'm Still Learning How To Leave You," which is very sunny and glammy and which has a surprising amount of Jesus imagery. Interestingly enough, the video is credited to "Harmony Tividad." Check it out below.

Lifetime is out 6/26 on KRO.
