The UK musician Labrinth was responsible for the sleek, moody music in the first two seasons of HBO's ultra-tawdry series Euphoria. Now, Euphoria is back for its long-awaited third season, and Labrinth isn't part of it. Yesterday, Labrinth released a pissed-off single, and the timing is auspicious.
Back in 2025, Labrinth announced that he was working with Hans Zimmer to score the third season. Since then, though, things have apparently gone badly between Labrinth and Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson, and now Zimmer is doing the whole score himself. Last month, Labrinth blasted both Euphoria and Columbia, his label, posting, "Fuck Columbia. Double Fuck Euphoria. I’m out. Thank you and good night." On his Instagram story over the weekend, Labrinth wrote that he "decided to remove" his music from the new Euphoria season: "I don't let people treat me like shit."
Labrinth released his most recent album Cosmic Opera: Act I on Columbia in January. On Saturday night, he played Coachella's Outdoor Theatre, the festival's second-biggest stage, right in between Sombr and David Byrne. Last night, HBO aired the season premiere of Euphoria. (I haven't had time to watch it yet.) At the same time that the episode started, Labrinth dropped a single called "SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892."
The new song opens with Labrinth's spoken-word narration: "I speak to the spirits, and the spirits tell you to shut your damn mouth. Over a bubbling, cinematic electro beat, Labrinth offers a few variations on the claim that you should shut your damn mouth: "Talk shit, gain clout, I don't know what that's about/ Busy tryna kill my shit while ignorin' your own house." Listen below.
A few hours before the song came out, Labrinth posted an Instagram screenshot that seemingly indicates that "SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892" dates back to 2024. Maybe it was originally supposed to be on the Euphoria soundtrack, or maybe it's a diss track aimed at Sam Levinson. Maybe it's both!
"SHUT YOUR DAMN 95.7892" is out now on Columbia.
